This Knife Bolo Tie -Savorite Handle tie is a real showstopper. The herringbone pattern of the Saivorite material used for the handle of this string tie is the highest quality imitation ivory. It is sure to fool most people. The varied grain pattern looks remarkably like the Schreger lines in genuine ivory, making this a great versatile accessory. This Savorite handle is an excellent scrimshaw canvas.
The knife blade itself is stainless steel, with a smooth blade bevel that does not have a sharp edge. This design choice, while maintaining the knife’s aesthetic appeal, ensures that it is not a functional knife, eliminating potential cutting accidents. You can wear this tie confidently, knowing it is a safe and stylish accessory.
The 6-ply leather cord is a luxurious 42” in length, which is long enough to be appropriate for a big or tall person. The stainless-steel tension bolo back allows for ease in sliding it up and down and adjusting it securely for a comfortable fit.
This bolo tie has not been fitted with tips, giving you the freedom to personalize it. You can choose from a variety of options, including bullet casings (as seen on my other bolo ties), deer antler tips, or shotgun shells that I have made exclusively for my scrimshawed bolos. Care for your Knife Bolo Tie:
I recommend you never wear a scrimshaw piece in swimming or the shower. Not likely for a bolo tie, I admit. Did that thought give you a little chuckle? But this next part is pertinent to the bolo tie – it is best not to leave your pieces sitting in direct sunlight or exposed to intense heat, like that of a vehicle in the summer. Scrimshaw, whether on natural or manmade materials, deserves to be cherished. I use the most permanent inks available for my artwork and I have applied several layers of Renaissance wax to preserve the colors.
